Cities4Cities has signed an alliance with the world’s largest network of professional local government managers

Cities4Cities has signed a strategic alliance agreement with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) — a leading global organization based in the US that brings together local government professionals from across the United States and around the world.

This collaboration at the local government level between Ukraine and ICMA will create opportunities for knowledge exchange, peer support, and joint municipal initiatives between Ukrainian, US and other global cities.

Julia Novak, ICMA’s CEO/Executive Director, indicated that “ICMA values relationships with organizations like Cities4Cities Ukraine which provide opportunities for our members to interact with counterparts from other countries. Our members benefit from learning about solutions that help local government leaders better serve their communities, and they in turn are eager to share their own successful programs that have enabled them to reimagine their local governments and address critical challenges.”

What does this agreement mean?

  • Direct peer-to-peer exchanges between municipalities in Ukraine, the United States, and other global cities, giving local government leaders and their staff the chance to learn from one another’s experiences and address modern governance challenges together.
  • Webinars, virtual events, and expert talks from both U.S. and Ukrainian municipal leaders for local government professionals.
  • Joint initiatives in areas such as leadership, sustainable development, and innovation in local governance.

“It’s an honor for Cities4Cities to partner with such a respected global organization with over a century of experience in building thriving, resilient communities. This partnership reflects ICMA’s commitment to strengthening municipal management through global cooperation,” said Svitlana Blinova, Coordinator of Cities4Cities.

The alliance between Cities4Cities and ICMA is more than an agreement — it’s a bridge of friendship, solidarity, and professional exchange between municipal leaders in Ukraine, the United States and around the world.
