About us

The Cities4Cities | United4Ukraine initiative helps Ukrainian communities establish inter-municipal partnerships with municipalities from European countries.

Cities4Cities United4Ukraine are partnership initiatives that joined forces in September 2022 and officially confirmed this on 27 February 2023 at the Municipal Partnership Forum in Sindelfingen by signing a Memorandum of Understanding.

Cities4Cities was founded by the city of Sindelfingen (Germany) under the patronage of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. The platform was launched on 29 March 2022 in Strasbourg in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Sindelfingen, Dr. Bernd Vöhringer, Ambassador of Ukraine Borys Tarasiuk, then Secretary General of the Congress Andreas Kiefer and Managing Director of STAR Cooperation Oliver Messer.

United 4 Ukraine was launched by SALAR International and the city of Lviv (Ukraine) with the support of the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida)

Cities4Cities, based in Sindelfingen, Baden-Württemberg (Germany), is the lead organisation for the following projects: humanitarian aid trucks, Phoenix4UA, children and youth camps, project partnerships, e.g. in the field of health, cultural and educational facilities (e.g. kindergartens or schools).

United4Ukraine, based in Lviv (Ukraine), is responsible for long-term (official) partnerships/city twinning.

The strategic partners of the initiatives are the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC) and the All-Ukrainian Association of Amalgamated Territorial Communities.
