From Sindelfingen to Ukraine: 15 Municipalities Receive Urgently Needed Equipment

The number of urgent requests we receive daily through the Cities4Cities online form is immense. Hundreds of Ukrainian municipalities report pressing needs – from medical supplies and municipal vehicles to technical infrastructure. But the reality is challenging: no single partner, no single city can respond to all of these calls for help alone. That’s why it is all the more important to provide targeted, effective, and sustainable support where possible.

Technical support for recovery: Sindelfingen sets aid in motion
The city of Sindelfingen has been actively supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the war and continues to seek ways to help where the need is most urgent. While it is not possible to respond to every request, the city remains fully committed to implementing concrete aid projects. Earlier this year, 15 Ukrainian municipalities were selected based on their urgent requests for technical equipment — and help arrived.

In February, two aid transports left Sindelfingen for Ukraine. The delivery included much-needed laptops, EcoFlow units, mobile power stations, generators, heaters, angle grinders, chainsaws, cordless drills, and rotary hammers — technical equipment that is often lacking but essential for recovery and daily operations in many communities.

In addition, the Sindelfingen city hall donated monitors, and other items — including firefighting equipment — were handed over. Feedback from Ukraine has been overwhelmingly positive: the supplies arrived safely and are already making a meaningful impact.

The aid reached the following communities, among others:
Poltava, Lozova, Zviahel, Chkalivska, Petropavlivska, Zolochivska, Krolevets, Hlukhiv, Esman, Mlyivska, Zorivska, Myrivska, Mykolaivska, Krynychanska, and Dolynska.

More than aid – a long-term commitment
Our work does not stop with the delivery of supplies. Cities4Cities in Sindelfingen supports Ukrainian municipalities on an institutional, political, and communication level. We help local governments find partners, provide guidance on applications, and show what funding opportunities exist in Germany. Our team constantly analyzes needs, seeks suitable projects, and develops initiatives that can realistically be implemented.

Nevertheless, we face a major challenge: the number of requests far exceeds the capacity of individual cities. Our platform shows that the needs in Ukraine remain high. Every day brings new appeals – for municipal vehicles, medical equipment, humanitarian aid, and critical infrastructure. We are doing our utmost, but meeting this enormous demand requires broader international support at the municipal level.

Every contribution counts – even if it only addresses a small part of the broader need. Sindelfingen demonstrates that targeted support can make a real difference. But in the long term, we need more European municipalities to step up and share responsibility.

Our goal is not only to provide immediate assistance, but to build bridges between European and Ukrainian cities — for sustainable partnerships that last beyond the current crisis. Because only together can we achieve more.
