History
People have lived in the territory of modern Korshiv since the Trypillian culture of the 3rd-2nd millennium BC. This is evidenced by unique finds: a copper axe, fragments of ceramics, Roman coins.
A burial mound and multi-layered settlements were discovered in the village, confirming the rich archaeological heritage.
In the Middle Ages, Korshiv was mentioned in 1469 as the property of noble families. In the 17th century, the colonel of the royal troops, Martin Kazanovskyi, dreamed of turning the village into a city with Magdeburg rights, but this idea remained unrealized due to wars and economic difficulties.

In the 19th century, the village became a center of the cooperative movement. Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytskyi bought Korshiv’s lands and transferred them to cater for the needs of the community. Thanks to this, educational societies, a dairy cooperative, and in 1928, the first winter economic school in Halychyna were founded.
Korshiv experienced significant upheavals during World War I: Russian troops captured the village three times, which was accompanied by looting. During the liberation struggle, local residents actively supported the West Ukrainian People’s Republic, providing the army with food and finances.
In the 1920s and 1930s, an economic revival took place: cooperatives, oil mills, and a seed station were operating. Courses were held in the village for young farmers, which helped improve agricultural productivity.

During the independence of Ukraine, the village of Korshiv experienced significant changes, preserving its identity and actively developing. It became part of the Korshiv community, modernized its infrastructure, and preserved and strengthened its cultural traditions.
Local residents are actively engaged in agriculture, participate in public initiatives, support the Ukrainian army during the russian-Ukrainian war, and preserve the memory of their heroes. The village has become a center of educational, cultural, and social events, demonstrating resilience and a desire for development in the conditions of independent Ukraine.
Korshiv preserves a rich historical and cultural heritage that is a source of inspiration for the local community. Archaeological monuments, as well as examples of successful cooperation from the past, can become the basis for the development of tourism and cultural initiatives in the future.
Economy and Welfare
The Korshiv community is developing steadily thanks to the active activities of local enterprises, farms and educational institutions. Initiatives aimed at supporting agriculture, developing vocational education and introducing energy-saving technologies play an important role in the life of the community. The presence of natural resources, such as gas and peat deposits, creates additional opportunities for economic growth.

One of the leading enterprises of the community is the bakery “Korshiv-khlib”, which has been delighting residents of five communities with fresh and aromatic bakery products for over 20 years. Both traditional and original varieties of sourdough bread are baked here. The bakery’s products are supplied to almost 100 retail outlets in the district, making it an important economic and social center of the community.
There is also a local fire brigade operating in the community, which is always ready to provide assistance not only to residents of the community, but also to other communities.

The foundation for future professionals is laid by the Korshiv Vocational Agrarian Lyceum, where students from different districts of the region study.
A significant contribution to the community’s economy is made by farms that grow wheat, soybeans, and corn.
Community and War
Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Korshiv community has shown high readiness to resist aggression and support its citizens and those who were forced to leave their homes.
On February 24, 2022, local authorities and community residents began working under conditions of emergency. A territorial defense was organized, which included local residents. They were on duty at checkpoints, protecting the security of the community, and ensuring law and order throughout the territory.
One of the biggest challenges for the community was to accommodate over 800 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who arrived from the war zone. To this end, local governments actively collaborated with residents, providing refugees with housing, basic necessities, and medicine.
Currently, 95 people remain in the community, including 20 children. The authorities, together with local residents, continue to work to support these families, providing them with the necessary resources to adapt to the new conditions.

The community actively participated in helping those affected by the armed aggression, organizing the shipment of humanitarian goods to eastern Ukraine. Thanks to the initiatives of residents, a significant amount of food, clothing, medicines, and household items were collected and sent to communities in the east and south of the country.
The community supported the Velyka Oleksandrivka settlement community of the Kherson region, for which financial assistance was provided, and the delivery of humanitarian goods to the village of Davydiv Brid was organized.

Local residents organize concerts, fairs and other events to raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All funds raised are directed to the purchase of ammunition, equipment and other necessary items for military personnel. In addition, the community produces trench candles, which are actively used by military personnel on the front line.
Since the start of full-scale war, the Korshiv community has also contributed to the collection and transfer of several vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Over a dozen vehicles were purchased and sent to the front to ensure the mobility of military units and assist with the evacuation of the wounded.

Volunteer support is not limited to monetary and material resources. Local shops, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens are actively involved in collecting food, medicine, hygiene products and other important goods for humanitarian aid. Many provide transport to deliver goods to the front lines, as well as maintain a constant financial flow to purchase necessary goods for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Community People
The head of the Korshiv territorial community, Yaroslav Savchuk, together with his team, is actively working on the development and well-being of the community. His leadership is marked by a desire for innovation and improving the quality of life for every resident.
He has initiated numerous projects aimed at improving infrastructure, social services, and supporting local businesses. The team under his leadership successfully implements innovative solutions for community development, and is also actively working in emergency situations, assisting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and providing comprehensive support to its citizens.

Since 2018, the implementation of the U-LEAD with Europe program has been underway in Ukraine, which involves the creation and modernization of administrative service centers in partner communities to make these services accessible and high-quality for the population and business. Thanks to the support of U-LEAD with Europe, an Administrative Service Center was created in the community, which significantly facilitated local residents’ access to public services. In addition, a remote workplace was organized in the village of Zhukotyn, which made it possible to ensure the accessibility of services for residents of remote population centers of the community.

The fruitful work of the entire team has resulted in the major renovation of the new building of the Korshiv Geriatric Boarding House. Currently, the center creates comfortable living conditions, providing not only comfort, but also the necessary medical and social assistance. Here, residents receive qualified support, as well as the opportunity to feel care and attention, which significantly improves their quality of life.

Development Strategy
In 2023, the Development Strategy of the Korshiv Territorial Community for 2023-2027 was approved, which defines the main directions for future development.
The first important area is the development of the local economy. This includes supporting and developing enterprises already operating in the community, as well as supporting farms and small businesses. Vacant land plots for investors and the availability of fertile land for agriculture provide good opportunities for business development. In addition, the community has all the conditions for breeding livestock and poultry. Natural resources, such as peat deposits, spring waters and gas deposits, can also become the basis for economic growth.

The second priority is to improve the quality of life of people in the community. This includes improving infrastructure, providing convenient and affordable services for residents, as well as developing the environment. The goal is to make people’s lives more comfortable, create conditions for development, so that the community becomes more attractive to new investors, tourists, and the residents themselves.
