History
The Nova Dmytrivka Community is a place where history resonates with modernity, and natural beauty complements the cultural heritage. Ancient architectural monuments, healing springs, local history museums and picturesque recreational areas make this region unique.

The history of the community dates back to the 16-th century, but archaeological finds show that life here has been going on since the Paleolithic period. Research conducted by the Institute of Archaeology has revealed a Trypillian culture settlement, Bronze Age burial mounds and Scythian burials in the area. The excavations of the Primitive Scythian expedition were particularly valuable, during which unique artefacts were found – weapons, jewellery, and food remains in ceramic dishes. This is evidence of the developed culture and ritual traditions of the region’s ancient inhabitants.
Local historians have made a significant contribution to the preservation of the community’s history by creating unique museums and research centres.
A separate page in the history of the community is the Krasnohirskyi Monastery, built in 1687. It is one of the most important spiritual monuments in Cherkasy Oblast. According to legend, its foundation is associated with a monk from Constantinople, to whom the Virgin Mary appeared in a dream and indicated the place for the monastery. Later, monks began to settle on this territory, and the first church was built of reeds and dedicated to St George. Today, the Holy Intercession Monastery is an important spiritual centre and place of pilgrimage.

Another significant landmark of the community is the wooden Holy Trinity Church, built in 1794. Its architecture has retained the features of 18th-century vernacular construction, and the ancient Tsar’s Gate with its 19th-century paintings is a real artistic value. The church remains a functioning temple and is protected by the state.

The majority of the community’s settlements were founded between the 16th and 17th centuries, which underlines the deep historical roots of this region. Today, the Nova Dmytrivka Community preserves and develops its unique heritage, inviting guests to plunge into the fascinating world of its history.
Economy and Welfare
The Nova Dmytrivka Community has a favourable location – just 3 km to the Raion Centre and 40 km to Cherkasy. This contributes to business development, investment attraction and logistical convenience for enterprises. The community’s economy is based on agriculture, which ensures competitive production of grain and industrial crops, as well as developed livestock farming. There are 137 private entrepreneurs and 75 legal entities registered in the community, which indicates the active development of small and medium-sized businesses.

One of the community’s key industrial facilities is Krasnohirskyi Oliinyi Zavod LLC, located in the village of Antypivka. The company specialises in the processing of sunflower, rapeseed, corn and soybean seeds, and its products comply with international standards ISO 9001. The plant exports its products to more than ten countries. In 2021-2022, the company planned to build an oil refinery and upgrade its press equipment, but due to martial law in Ukraine, these projects were temporarily suspended.

Krasnohirske LLC plays an important role in the community’s agricultural sector. The company was named after the Krasnohirskyi Holy Intercession Monastery. It specialises in growing grain crops and breeding dairy Holstein cattle, with about 500 heads.
The village of Kovtuny is home to the Cherkassy branch of the Interbusiness private production and research company, a modern poultry farm that rears and sells poultry meat and sells eggs.
Approximately 25% of the community’s territory is covered by forests, which creates additional opportunities for the development of ecotourism, timber harvesting and biodiversity conservation.
The combination of the agricultural sector, industrial enterprises and natural resources gives the Nova Dmytrivka Community a stable economic potential and prospects for further development.
The Community and the War
With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the Nova Dmytrivka Community rallied and began to function as a single organism aimed at Victory. The main priority was to help the military, defence forces and internally displaced persons.

Since the first days of the war, the community’s educational institutions have been actively involved in volunteer work. The Dmytrivka Educational Complex organised charity fairs, made amulets and collected medicinal herbs for the military. The staff of the Domantove Training and Education Complex provided vehicles for the soldiers of the 4th Tank Brigade, purchased air defence equipment and supported aerial reconnaissance. The Drabivtsi Training and Education Complex raised funds to buy a car for the 3rd Company of the 1st Engineer Battalion and thermal kits for the soldiers. The Nova Dmytrivka Lyceum raised funds for drones, wove camouflage nets, and held events to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The village council staff, together with local entrepreneurs, are constantly involved in fundraising to buy vehicles, drones, radios, generators and other necessary items. Active volunteers Liudmyla Nakonechna and Iryna Novoseletska rallied not only the community residents but also neighbouring villages to provide the military with food, trench candles, camouflage nets and other essentials.

In addition, the community launched a charity marathon where artists performed to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, raising over UAH 100,000. In the starosta districts, the military were supported not only financially but also morally by organising meetings, cultural events, and planting Victory Gardens together with the defenders.

An important challenge for the community was the arrival of internally displaced persons. In total, more than 1,808 people from the affected regions of Ukraine were hosted. Today, more than 500 IDPs live in the community and are provided with humanitarian aid and housing. Temporary accommodation facilities have been set up in Domantove and Dmytrivka, where support is provided through the help of NGOs and local residents.

Even in difficult conditions, the community does not stop and continues to support the army, bringing Ukraine’s victory closer.
Community People
Iryna Kod has been heading the Nova Dmytrivka Community as the secretary of the village council since 2020. She has lived in the village of Nova Dmytrivka for all of her 50 years, maintaining close ties with the locals.

From the very beginning of the war, Iryna has made supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine a priority in her work. Under her leadership, the community’s educational institutions have been actively engaged in volunteering and cooperating with military units, providing assistance from the first days of the war.

Before the war, the community organised various sporting, cultural and educational events, including festivals, exhibitions and championships, which contributed to the development of local culture and strengthened community ties.

During the war, the community actively supports internally displaced persons by organising holidays and events for them to help them adapt to new conditions. For example, a social assistance centre organised a holiday for children who lost their parents in the war, where they played games, danced and sculpted.
In the village of Drabivtsi, there is a youth space called ‘ATMOSPHERE’, which is part of the Association of Youth Centres of Ukraine. This place brings together active and enthusiastic young people who want to change their community for the better. The space’s participants engage in volunteer initiatives, promote healthy lifestyles, develop leadership skills, and work on projects that contribute to the social development of the region. ‘ATMOSPHERE’ has become a point of attraction for young people who want to learn, create and build the future of their community together.

Thanks to the initiatives of Iryna Kod and local residents, the Nova Dmytrivka Community continues to actively support its residents and the military, promoting development and recovery after difficult times.
Development Strategy
The Nova Dmytrivka Community has a clear vision of its development until 2027. The main focus is on creating a strong economic foundation, supporting local entrepreneurs, attracting investment and entering foreign markets.
Special attention is paid to innovations, the introduction of modern technologies in agriculture, product processing and the development of environmentally friendly production. Education and vocational training are important to enable the community residents to work in promising industries.

Here, they are working to improve healthcare, social services and security. Considerable attention is paid to the environment, including nature protection, clean water, energy efficiency and smart waste management.
The community is working to improve roads, utilities, digital services and comfortable public spaces. All of this is done to ensure that local residents have a high-quality life, new opportunities for work and study, and that the community is attractive to investors and tourists.
