People of the community
The people of the Korostyshiv community are defined by a unique blend of ancient craftsmanship and modern bravery. They are an active community of artisans and volunteers who power a world-class stone-processing industry, carrying forward the traditions of the “Land of Sculptors.”
Beyond their professional skills, the residents are characterized by their profound solidarity; when faced with a missile strike, they did not wait for external aid but “came together as one” to lead the recovery and rebuild immediately. This spirit of care extends to strangers as well, as the community turned their home into a sanctuary for over 3,000 evacuees during the war’s most critical days and has successfully integrated hundreds of internally displaced persons into their social fabric.
Acting Mayor Yurii Denysovets is a hometown leader whose deep local roots and extensive administrative experience drive his commitment to the people of Korostyshiv. Motivated by a desire for positive change in his own community, he transitioned from high-level regional roles back to local government to directly serve his fellow residents. He is fully dedicated to channeling his years of managerial expertise into the renewal and long-term prosperity of the community he calls home. Under his leadership, the focus remains on building a stable and thriving environment where every member of the Korostyshiv community can flourish.
Priorities
Decarbonization
Our focus is on energy autonomy. Our biggest challenge is ensuring a stable water supply for 25,000 residents and protecting our hospitals from outages.
We have already successfully piloted solar integration at our community hospital. To scale this, we have prepared land plots with cadastral numbers specifically for renewable energy investors. We are now looking for co-financing for hybrid solar plants and modern water systems to ensure our community’s long-term energy independence and security.
Healthcare services
Our primary goal is to transform into a full-cycle Regional Rehabilitation Hub. Currently, we serve as a critical site for military treatment, building on our leadership in joint replacement and trauma surgery.
We’ve already established the ‘Place of Strength’ for psychological reintegration and a dedicated space for legal support. Now, we are looking for partners to help us provide a complete recovery cycle for people affected by the war—ensuring that those with severe injuries receive the specialized, long-term care they deserve.
Social integration
To support residents with mental trauma and children with disabilities, we are opening a sensory-cognitive room and a new rehabilitation hall this April.
Thanks to partners like U-LEAD and GIZ, we’ve already secured equipment and winter support. Now, we are seeking partners for the renovation of a dedicated, spacious facility for our inclusive day-care unit. We already have the staff, furniture, and resources ready—we just need the right space to ensure a truly barrier-free environment for our community.
Development Strategy
The Korostyshiv community is confidently looking toward the future and actively working on comprehensive development. Our key priorities include strengthening the education and healthcare systems, supporting culture and sports, and creating a comfortable, eco-friendly, and people-oriented environment.
We aim to transform our city into a tourist destination, as we have much to offer: picturesque landscapes, unique historical landmarks, and a beautiful park — all of which form a strong foundation for tourism development. We are already working on digitalizing city tours to make Korostyshiv more accessible and engaging for visitors.
Our community is also open to cooperation with investors. We offer fertile land, a strong stone-processing industry, and — most importantly — hardworking and talented people. Korostyshiv has all the resources needed for business and manufacturing growth, with products capable of competing successfully on international markets.
We believe that through close collaboration and strong partnerships, we can achieve much more — not only for Korostyshiv, but for all our communities. Together, we can create a future of shared success and prosperity.
Economy and Welfare
Korostyshiv is rapidly evolving from a traditional industrial town into a modernized, resilient gateway between Kyiv and Europe. By leveraging its unique natural resources and strategic location, the community has built a diversified economy anchored by four key pillars.
1. The Stone Capital: Industrial Heritage
At the heart of Korostyshiv’s economy is its world-class granite and stone-processing cluster. Known as the “Land of Sculptors,” this sector is more than art—it is a deep-rooted industrial tradition. The local economy is powered by a dense network of highly skilled artisans and stone-processing specialists, making it a premier destination for high-quality masonry and sculpture.
2. Strategic Logistics & Investment Readiness
Geography is one of the community’s greatest competitive advantages. Located just 108 km from Kyiv on the M-06 international highway, Korostyshiv serves as a vital transit hub connecting the capital to European markets. To capitalize on this, the city has prepared land plots with official cadastral numbers, signaling they are “investment-ready” for industrial and energy projects.
3. A New Frontier in Healthcare
Korostyshiv is successfully turning medical excellence into a specialized economic sector. Already recognized as a regional leader in joint replacement and trauma surgery, the community is now transitioning into a Regional Rehabilitation Hub. This shift is attracting specialized medical staff and creates significant potential for medical services and specialized equipment investment.
4. Sustainable Growth & Recreation
The community is securing its future through two forward-looking strategies:
Green Autonomy: To ensure economic stability, Korostyshiv is pursuing energy independence through hybrid solar plants and modern water systems.
Eco-Tourism: The scenic granite quarries, lakes, and the historic Olizar estate serve as a secondary economic pillar, drawing visitors for recreation and cultural tourism.
The Bottom Line: Through transparent governance (DREAM system) and strong public-private partnerships, Korostyshiv has moved beyond mere survival to become a resilient, smart, and social economic model in Northern Ukraine.
