Khorostkiv Territorial Community
The Khorostkiv territorial community is located in the Chortkiv district of Ternopil region.
The total area is 185 km2.
The population of the community is 12,359 people.
Women: 5,829.
Men: 4,994.
Children: 1,536
IDPs: 129.
It includes 10 population centers and has its administrative center in the town of Khorostkiv
History
Khorostkiv is the gem of Ternopil Region. Located on the Taina River, it is the largest industrial town of the Chortkiv district and the center of the Khorostkiv territorial community.
The fact that this area was settled in the 3rd-2nd millennia BC is evidenced by the investigated burials, and the first written mention of it dates back to 1564. The fertile lands of Khorostkiv attracted many Polish feudal lords.
Over time, the construction of a palace began here, weaving and tailoring developed. The population was mainly engaged in agriculture.
At the end of the 8th century Khorostkiv became a significant trade center. Fairs and weekly bazaars were held here. The center was built up with shops and taverns.
The modern community combines an unparalleled cultural heritage, an attractive tourism potential and a rich historical context, making it a place worth visiting.
One of the most important architectural monuments is the palace complex of the Sieminsky-Levitsky Counts.
The community is famous for its church buildings. Each church impresses with its uniqueness and exquisite architectural solutions. Church visitors can immerse themselves in the rich spiritual heritage of Ukraine.
The Khorostkiv community attracts tourists with its natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Also, the Khorostkiv Arboretum is located here which is a monument of garden and park art. Its unique flora is represented by 187 species of plants. Picturesque rivers and ponds invite visitors to fish and relax.
Economy and Welfare
The community actively promotes the development of entrepreneurship, providing businesses with access to a variety of resources and support. Large agricultural enterprises, chemical and food industries work efficiently here. The field of trade, restaurant service, etc. is represented by medium and small-sized enterprises.
The community also has Interfom Company which is a leading manufacturer of elastic polyurethane foam, which has been on the market since 1997. The enterprise has modern high-tech equipment and only uses raw materials from the world’s leading companies in the production process. The production of more than 50 types of polyurethane foam under the Highfoam trademark has been established here.
There is also the Khorostkiv Sugar Factory in the community. It is one of the largest and most important enterprises of the district. Processing of raw materials here began in 1958 and amounted to 3 thousand tons of sugar beet per day. In recent years, the plant has been gradually modernized. A lot of equipment was purchased from foreign manufacturers, which makes it possible to process up to 7 thousand tons of sugar beet per day.
The Continental Farmers Group is an agricultural company with international investments that operates in the Western Ukrainian region, including the Khorostkiv community.
Community and War
Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, people have lived and worked here under conditions of new challenges and threats.
During this time, the Khorostkiv community received 1.6 thousand refugees. The community became a new home for several relocated businesses from the affected areas. The volunteer movement and the public environment are developing, and the systems of providing services to residents continue to be improved.
Annual festivals and patriotic events are held in the Khorostkiv community, the purpose of which is charitable support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Many residents went to defend the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine.
People of the Community
Stepan Hladun is the Head of the Khorostkiv Territorial Community who made a significant contribution to the development and improvement of the community’s quality of life.
The leadership qualities and diligence of the head of the community contribute to the development and improvement of the socio-economic condition of residents of all population centers of the community and internally displaced persons.
During the tenure of Stepan Hladun, the community underwent comprehensive development which includes road repairs, construction of sewage treatment plants, site improvement, reconstruction of educational institutions, health care facilities, social infrastructure facilities, support of talented youth in the fields of education, culture, and sports.
On the initiative of the head, a bus was launched between the community population centers which can be freely used by residents of the community and IDPs.
Despite the war, the Administrative Services Center, Diia Center, was opened in the town of Khorostkiv in 2023. Here residents of the community can receive 224 administrative services.
The youth movement, sports life and culture are actively developing in the Khorostkiv community.
Development Strategy
The future of the community is built around tourism through the joint efforts of the authorities and residents. It is based not only on historical objects, but also on developed local traditions.
The community offers many jobs in agriculture, primarily in crop production and processing, food and chemical industry, which provides residents with certain life stability and personal development, and the community’s income contributes to the development of utilities and the provision of quality public services.
The community cooperates with international organizations. Together with DOBRE, they developed and implemented projects to improve local infrastructure, raise the quality of communal services and support entrepreneurship.
They also have partnerships with UNDP, the Norwegian Refugee Council, InSource, PROSTO, the Red Cross, and Posmishka UA.
Thanks to cooperation with these organizations and foundations, the community achieves significant results in improving the quality of life of residents. Here, they strive to achieve even greater success in the future and jointly make the community a better place to live in for all its residents.
