Community and War

From the first days of the war, the residents of the Verenchanka community stood up to protect their Motherland from russian aggression. Today, about 400 men defend Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To date, 16 soldiers from the community have died, many are wounded.

Those residents of the community who cannot fight on the front line today join various volunteer organizations and help our soldiers working in the home front.

The community pays a lot of attention to helping internally displaced persons. Now, the number of IDPs has decreased compared to the beginning of the full-scale invasion and numbers 108 people.

The community systematically buys drones, cars, weaves camouflage nets and prepares homemade meals for the Ukrainian army.

Ukrainian soldiers are always invited to talk with children at school during vacations. Ukrainian defenders are the personification of heroism, truth and freedom for every citizen.

One of them is 21-year-old border guard Maksym Kasperskyi from Verenchanka. He defended Ukraine from the first days of the war, defended positions in Mariupol. Maksym was sent to Azovstal twice, was wounded twice and spent 9 months in captivity. This story has a happy ending, because the exchange took place in 2023 and Maksym returned home, where his mother, father, sister, girlfriend, relatives and all fellow villagers were waiting for him.
