The community consists of 7 villages, with the administrative centre in Novooleksandrivka village.
History
Life on the community’s territory was born millions of years ago. 150 archaeological sites have been discovered there. One of the pearls of this necklace is the Panske Lake.
The village of Novooleksandrivka was founded by German colonists in 1879 as the village of Pody, and in 1932 it was changed to its current name of Novooleksandrivka.
The village of Veselianka is located on the left bank of the Konka River and served as a natural border between the lands of Zaporizhzhia Volosts and the Crimean Khanate, and later – between the territory of Katerynoslav and Tavriia provinces. The settlement of the future village of Yulivka appeared on the left bank of the Konka River below the village of Veselianka around 1700.
Economy and Welfare
The Novooleksandrivka Community is famous for its farms. The following companies operate in the agricultural sector: Oris-Nyva 1, Oleksandr-Agro 2, Dana, and Merker O.V. Farming Company.
Also operating in the community are TRADE-TEC Limited Liability Company PlasmaTec TM (scientific production), First Mushroom Company Limited Liability Company, Zaporizhrybkombinat Limited Liability Company (fish farming), Stoleks-Ukraine Limited Liability Company (poultry farm), and Bondarenko Individual Entrepreneur, Pasika na Lavandi TM (beekeeping).
Three gymnasiums and the children’s and youth sports club Legion SC operate in the community’s education sector. All gymnasiums have pre-school departments in their structure.
Medical services are provided by the Primary Health Care Centre.
The Community and the War
Since the first day of the full-scale invasion, the community has shown cohesion and resilience, actively supporting the defenders of Ukraine and organising aid.
A year ago, the Novooleksandrivka Coordination Centre for Humanitarian and Social Issues was launched. It was a time of intense work.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, about 300 households, a cultural centre and a school have been destroyed in the community.
Thanks to fruitful cooperation and high-quality communication, the community managed to involve a team of specialists from Proliska Zaporizhzhia. Employees of the humanitarian centre Proliska Zaporizhzhia went to the site of one shelling to provide humanitarian aid from UNHCR Ukraine (the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine) (building materials for quick repairs and basic necessities). The residents also received psychological assistance and counselling on social issues.
In April and May 2024, the Russian Federation attacked the community’s territory with missiles. As a result, dozens of residential buildings were damaged.
Specialists from Caritas Zaporizhzhia of the Shelter for Vulnerable Households in Ukraine III project, which is being implemented with the support of Caritas Ukraine and UNHCR Ukraine, arrived at the site of the damaged houses. The specialists inspected the damage and registered households in need of urgent repairs to restore their living conditions. The project engineers conducted a technical assessment of the damage and prepared estimates for the restoration work to be submitted to the contractor.
Charity fairs or fundraisers are held within the walls of the shelters of gymnasiums to support the defenders. Thanks to the incredibly active participation of students and parents, we reflect our belief in the true power of community.
An important area of the village council’s work is social protection of the population.
Community People
The community has been headed by Oleksandr Korniienko since 2011.
Under the leadership of Oleksandr Korniienko, the community is actively developing, particularly in the areas of healthcare, culture and social security.
To improve healthcare, the community managed to receive an all-terrain vehicle from the Ministry of Health as part of a joint project with the World Bank, Strengthening Health Systems and Saving Lives (Heal Ukraine). One of the main goals of the project is to strengthen the capacity of primary healthcare to provide quality services to the population, especially to people from the most vulnerable groups living in remote locations of the communities.
At the request of the head of the community, the Zaporizhzhia regional organisation of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society managed to install a mobile shelter near the social hub in the village of Hryhorivka. This was implemented as part of the project “Strengthening humanitarian response in low-income, remote and rural areas in the most affected regions of Ukraine” in Zaporizhzhia Oblast with the support of the German Red Cross, the Danish Red Cross and funding from the European Union.
The Novooleksandrivka Community in Zaporizhzhia Oblast received a fire truck from philanthropists. This became possible thanks to the cooperation of the oblast authorities and the Ukrainian Firefighters charity fund. The local fire and rescue team serves 7 settlements, but if necessary, it also takes part in emergency response in the neighbouring community.
The local fire brigade also received modern rescue equipment. This will improve the level of protection of personnel during their tasks, and the equipment meets safety standards, which is critical for a quality response to emergencies, especially in frontline communities.
With the assistance of the community head and in cooperation with the Stabilisation Support Services Charitable Foundation, two printers were received in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. This equipment is used in the social sphere.
Together with the Yevhen Pyvovarov Charitable Foundation and the American charity Direct Relief, a powerful Tesla Powerwall energy storage system was delivered to the Administrative Service Centre.
The new school year for the schoolchildren of the Novooleksandrivka Community began with a pleasant gift – a brand new school bus.
Development Strategy
The Novooleksandrivka Community is actively working on the development and implementation of strategic development plans aimed at improving the quality of life of its residents and sustainable development of the region.
The following main tasks were identified:
Construction of a camp for internally displaced persons. People who have lost their homes will be able to socialise there, find work and access basic services such as education and healthcare;
Restoration of social infrastructure facilities destroyed as a result of attacks by Russia;
The school’s heating system was overhauled to ensure proper functioning of the system with the installation of a solid fuel boiler. This will reduce air pollution and save heating costs;
Water supply network has been repaired and reconstructed to avoid water losses and save local budget funds. Besides, design and estimate documentation has been developed for the reconstruction of the water supply network in one of the villages of the community.
