History
Pervomaiskyi is one of the youngest towns in Ukraine. It owes its foundation to the construction of the Kursk-Kharkiv-Azov railway in 1869. The station built here was named Lykhachove, in honour of a nobleman, a lieutenant general of the russian army, who had previously donated his land for the construction of the railway. After World War Two, in 1952, Lykhachove became a district centre and was renamed Pervomaiskyi. And in 1991 Pervomaiskyi became a town.
Tour De Fort bicycle tour
The annual Tour De Fort bicycle tour of the Slobozhanshchyna fortresses is held in Pervomaiskyi gathering more than a hundred participants from various cities of Ukraine and includes routes through the fortresses of the Ukrainian line, in particular the Mykhailivska Fortress, the Oleksiivska Fortress, the Yefremivska Fortress, the Paraskoviiska Fortress, the Orlovska Fortress, and the Ivanivska Fortress. This is a tourist cycling route over 400 km long through the historical sites of the Kharkiv Region passing through 68 settlements. The bicycle tour is an initiative of the town authorities and is designed to popularize a healthy lifestyle.
Race for all
For the Town Day, which is celebrated on September 16, the traditional Race for All is held, in which more than 700 people of different age categories participate.
Festive procession on the Vyshyvanka (Embroidered Shirt) Day
In May, the international Vyshyvanka Day is celebrated. For the first time, the Vyshyvanka Day was celebrated in our town in 2015. Therefore, over the last few years the residents of the town of Pervomaiskyi has put on their embroidered shirts and taken part in this festive event by gathering on the main square to join the festive procession.
Oleksiivska Fortress festival
The community started holding a festival of active recreation for the whole family – Oleksiivska Fortress – a celebration of Ukrainian culture and identity.
Youth
The HUB [KOMORA] Pervomaiskyi Youth Centre is a place that brings together young people and provides space for the planning and holding of various educational, entertainment and cultural events and boosts the social role of young people in society.
Economy
The economic profile of the community is mainly industrial.
In particular, the facilities of the companies specializing in the production of flour, bakery products, receipt and processing of grains, production of flakes and cereals are located here. The companies’ products are supplied to all the regions of Ukraine and abroad. More than 420 tons of flour and 100 tons of bakery products are produced here.
Food industry products are produced mainly from local raw materials. Ten agricultural companies cultivate 8,209 hectares of arable land in the territory of the community. In the structure of gross agricultural production of the community, crop production accounts for 86% and livestock production acco8unts for 14%.
Community and war
The community has been receiving internally displaced persons since the outbreak of the russian-Ukrainian war in 2014. In total, 7.5 thousand displaced people live in the community. Most of them came here to stay with their relatives; still others rent housing on their own. Almost 300 people currently live in the three municipal facilities of the town.
“In these compact accommodation centres, we provide two meals a day. We buy food using the funds of the town program launched in August. The humanitarian potential that the community had (we received foods as aid from our foreign partners) is also working, but there are things that we have to buy every day: vegetables, meat products”,

Pervomaiskyi town mayor
Mykola Mykolaiovych Baksheiev has been the mayor of Pervomaiskyi since 2015. The mayor has launched a series of live broadcasts during which he personally answers the questions asked by the residents of the Pervomaiskyi urban territorial community. At least twice a week, Mayor Mykola Baksheiev reports on the developments in the community. Information is posted on all the official resources of the community.
Preferred areas of cooperation
economic development, energy-efficient projects, youth movement, development of business infrastructure and investment appeal, culture, education, provision of administrative services, social projects, interaction with the public, budget planning.
We are also developing event tourism, including creation of bicycle routes, organization of family festivals, etc. We are ready to share experience within the framework of domestic and international partnerships, dynamic cooperation in various areas for the development of territorial communities of partner municipalities.
