The Zgurivka settlement territorial community is located in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region.

The total area of the territory is 763.08 km2

The community includes 41 population centers. The administrative center of the community is located in the settlement of Zgurivka.

History

The Zgurivka settlement territorial community is a fairly young community. Even in this short time, she has become successful, strong and capable of implementing effective strategic changes in various spheres of life.

In the very heart of the community, in the village of Zgurivka there is an emerald pearl – a park around which the settlement is located. It occupies 309 hectares.

Zgurivka Park, a monument of horticultural art of national significance, was founded in 1837 by Kyiv Vice-Governor Arkadiy Kochubey for his wife Sofia Vyazemska.

On the territory of the community is the St. Nicholas Church – the spiritual center of the village of Voytove. It has the status of an architectural monument of local importance.

The Cossack Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located in the village of Mala Berezanka. The church was built by the Cossacks, who founded the village, around the same period when the history of the village itself began – in the late 16th-early 17th centuries. At first, the inhabitants of the village were mainly Cossacks, and later Ukrainian nobles, gentry, and retired officers started to settle here.

Hydrological reserves of national importance are located on the territory of the Zgurivka settlement community. The first hydrological reserve was created with the aim of preserving and reproducing valuable natural complexes of the gene pool of the plant and animal world. The area of this reserve is 2,000 hectares, and the area of the second one is 590.9 hectares.

The protected tract of local importance, “Halahanove” is an object of the nature reserve fund of local importance, which has an area of 170 hectares. This square deciduous forest is represented by 70 species of trees and shrubs, of which 40 are exotic species of scientific value Video with English subtitles.

Economy and Welfare

Land is the greatest natural wealth of the Zgurivka community. Favorable climatic conditions make the cultivation of agricultural crops successful here.

The community operates a sugar and butter factories and has the production of baby food, fruit and vegetable juices, bread and confectionery, cheeses and yogurts, as well as cold stamping and metal bending. There are more than 100 farms in the community.

A new complex for keeping cows and a pig complex were built here.

With the support of the Village Head Vasyl Tsvyk, a new Zgurivka dispensary of general practice of family medicine and the Zgurivka primary health care center were built. In February 2022, the new premises of the polyclinic department were opened.

Gymnastics and choreography groups operate in the community. There are also classes in volleyball, football, taekwondo, judo and Nordic walking.

There are 54 sports facilities (football fields, sports grounds) operating on the territory of the community. The vast majority of sports facilities are adapted for activities of persons with disabilities.

The Active Parks Project was implemented here, which is part of the nationwide program for involving various population groups in healthy physical activity.

The community received grants for the implementation of the following projects:

“Trash sorting as an ecological component of life: 20 sets of containers for separate garbage collection were purchased, garbage sites were arranged in educational institutions, and a separate garbage collection system is being introduced;

“PALIANYTSIA CONVERSATION CLUB” was provided with furniture and equipment;

“ECO-CLASS” – construction and furnishing of a street pavilion on the school territory to create an educational eco-space to conduct training in the fresh air;

“Gym – a public health space for community residents” – professional exercise equipment was purchased and the gym was equipped so that it will become a public health space for community residents.

Two representatives of small businesses were helped to receive a grant in the micro-grant competition. These are the projects: “Home Cheese Factory” and “Craft Production of Dried Tomatoes”.

There are 2 police stations on the territory of the community. Two police officers of the community work in the community’s populations centers.

There is a dispensary, five rural dispensaries and 23 paramedical and midwifery stations and paramedical stations on the territory of the community.

Community and War

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Zgurivka Territorial Community has become a shelter for 8,100 internally displaced persons.

It was the residents who first started collecting humanitarian aid for internally displaced persons. A total of 9 tons of aid was collected. And in cooperation with Ukrainian and international charitable foundations and organizations, 45 tons of humanitarian aid was provided.

3 crisis centers were created to help temporarily displaced persons. They provided free psychological help to those in need.

Currently, a humanitarian headquarters works in the community. It continues to distribute food kits, hygiene products and necessary things. They also provided assistance to neighboring communities that were occupied.

As a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, 10 residential buildings and 1 administrative building were damaged in one of the villages of the community. To date, 8 buildings and 1 administrative building have been restored. Works are ongoing.

The Zgurivka hospital became the main point of providing medical aid to the wounded and ill not only among the residents of the community, but also among the residents of the neighboring region. During a power outage, uninterrupted operation of the facility is ensured with the help of generators.

The Zgurivka community has been working on the implementation of the VSIMDIM Ukrainian charitable project since early spring. 4 mobile homes and 1 household unit were installed for the accommodation of 4 families with children who lost their homes or cannot return home due to temporary occupation.

People of the Community

The Zgurivka community is headed by Vasyl Tsvyk. The daily work of the Settlement Head is focused on the support and development of all areas of community life.

During the two years of the Head’s activity, a number of memorandums on cooperation and partnership were signed. Cooperation with international organizations and municipalities is also being established.

In September 2022, the UK government handed over two fire trucks to the community for firefighting and emergency rescue operations.

The World Food Organization of the United Nations provided the community with multi-purpose material assistance for 1,640 people from among the vulnerable sections of the population, including internally displaced persons and local residents.

Under the leadership of Settlement Head Vasyl Tsvyk and his deputy Snizhana Avramenko, the procedure of reorganization of medical enterprises was carried out. This approach made it possible to keep the hospital on the territory of the community. In addition, the two institutions were united under one management, one support services, which made it possible to save on salary costs.

The team led by the Community Head replaced outdoor lighting networks in the community’s population centers. And in 2022, 10 solid fuel boilers were purchased for educational institutions at the expense of the local budget. All institutions are equipped with generators.

Development Strategy

After conducting a survey of residents for the implementation of the Strategy, two areas were identified, which are expressed in the needs of the population:

Ecological area – the issue of solid household waste management and the construction of a waste sorting line, which became the basis of the “Zgurivka Community – Ecological Community” project;

The area of leisure involves the creation of functional zones in Zgurivka Park. As part of the working group for the implementation of the “Park – Soul of the Community” project, a sketch idea of the concept and zoning scheme of the park territory was worked out.

The priority projects for implementation in the community are the construction of a garbage sorting station, a skate park, a physical culture and wellness complex of the Zgurivka children’s and youth sports school, and a second potable water tank.

Major repairs of Zgurivka Park, a monument of horticultural art of national significance (requires additional financing), the administrative building of the Zgurivka settlement council (Administrative Services Center), the surgical building of the Zgurivka hospital, the load-bearing building structures of the kindergarten, educational institution in the village Novooleksandrivka and Zgurivka gymnasium are also of top priority.
