The total area of the community is 1263.7 km2, which is 5.1% of the territory of the region. The community includes 41 population centers. The administrative center of the community is the settlement of Bereznehuvate.

The population of the community is 18,743 people.
Women: 9,854 persons.
Men: 8,889 people.
Preschool children: 1,282, school children: 2,045, people of retirement age: 4,113.
Currently, 2,010 internally displaced persons live in the community.

History

The history of Bereznehuvate began in the 18th century. Former Zaporozhian Cossacks settled on the site of modern villages and towns in the 1780s. Subsequently, the settlement was replenished at the expense of the participants of anti-feudal demonstrations from the Podillia, Volhynia, and Kyiv provinces sentenced by the Russian authorities to exile.

One of the most striking tourist attractions of the community is the Holy Resurrection Church in the settlement of Bereznehuvate, which was built in 1860-1880.

Of the oldest objects built in the 19th and early 20th centuries in Bereznehuvate, there are premises of the Nahartava hospital complex built in 1898-1899 (the complex had 8 spaces), as well as premises of a detention center, premises of a parish school, and premises of a credit bank.

There are 3 landscape reserves with a total area of 180 hectares on the territory of the community.

Economy and Welfare

Two rivers flow on the territory of the community – the Inhulets and the Vysun. The area of the water resources is 1,303 hectares.

Part of the Balashivka deposit (126 hectares) is located in the community. It can be used in sufficient quantities for the production of lime. In addition, there are clays suitable for making bricks on the lands of the Murakhivka starosta-headed district, and there is a possibility of sand mining.

Most of the soils are southern chernozems.

Agriculture is the main branch of the economy on the territory of the settlement council. Agricultural production of the Bereznehuvate settlement council is mainly focused on the cultivation of grain and technical crops, as well as the breeding of cattle, pigs, poultry and the production of meat, milk, eggs.

More than 93 thousand hectares are used for agricultural purposes. 322 agricultural enterprises and more than 2.8 private farmers are engaged in economic activity on the territory of the community.

As of January 1, 2020, a total of 945 business entities were registered here. Individual entrepreneurs are mainly engaged in agriculture and retail trade. There are no industrial enterprises or production facilities on the territory of the community.

The Bereznehuvate territorial community provides quality education for its residents by offering various educational opportunities. There are 18 preschool institutions and 17 secondary education institutions operating in the community. All education institutions work remotely. There are no higher education institutions on the territory of the community.

The community actively cares about the health of its residents. Medical services are provided by the Bereznehuvate Central Hospital of the Bereznehuvate Settlement Council and the Bereznehuvate Center for Medical and Sanitary Care of the Bereznehuvate Settlement Council and 6 subordinate centers of outpatient clinics.

Community and War

For almost 8 months in 2022, part of the community was under shelling. The enemy systematically fired at the population of Vysunsk, Lepetykha, Murakhivka, Liubomyrivka starosta-headed districts located on the dividing line and the settlement of Bereznehuvate. 5 civilians were killed and 20 were injured. 1 child died, 3 children were injured.

The actions of the occupiers were purposefully aimed at the destruction and ruining of the community’s civil, transport and energy infrastructure. Active rocket and artillery shelling resulted in the damage or destruction of 26 education institutions, 6 cultural institutions, 8 shops, administrative buildings, 54 agricultural enterprises, the polyclinic department of the Bereznehuvate Central District Hospital of the Bereznehuvate Settlement Council, 3 health care facilities, which provided primary medical care to the rural population, and almost 700 residential buildings. The children’s health center located in the village of Bila Krynytsia was destroyed. A road bridge across the Dobra River in the settlement of Bereznehuvate was ruined.

The starostas of the front-line starosta-headed districts were on the ground and were ready to defend their land. While resisting the occupiers, starosta of the Murakhivka district Oleksandr Yezhelov died. Courageous residents of the community passed on information about the movement of enemy equipment on the territory of neighboring villages of the Kherson region and thereby helped neutralize the enemy.

The doctors of the Bereznehuvate Central District Hospital who provided emergency medical care 24 hours a day worked selflessly, including Head Doctor Viktoriya Samoilova, Deputy Head Doctor Olena Shulika, doctors Yurii Chernenko, Andrii Izbash, and Serhii Vlasenko.

Since 2019, Serhii Boyko (39 years old) has been Settlement Head of Bereznehuvate.

Serhii Boyko was constantly engaged in the organization of the delivery of humanitarian goods, medicines, and drinking water to the affected population centers.

During the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, many residents of the Bereznehuvate settlement territorial community made a lot of efforts for the future victory over the enemy.

Development Strategy

The decision of the Bereznehuvate settlement council approved the Development strategy of the Bereznehuvate settlement council for the period up to and including 2027. The purpose of the Strategic Development Planning is to promote welfare, increase the standard of living and social protection of the population of the Bereznehuvate settlement council by ensuring positive structural changes in the economy, increasing its competitiveness, as a basis for balanced growth of standards and indicators of economic development.

The goals, tasks and main measures of socio-economic development have been determined and the three strategic goals have been defined:

  1. Strengthening the economic opportunities of the community.
  2. Establishment of a modern service provision system.
  3. Attractive, efficient and safe community living space.

Currently, the community is starting work on the development of the Community Recovery Plan.
