History

On the banks of the Knyazha, Richyshche and Revun rivers, near the remnants of the past beauty of Ukraine – the Dnipro floodplains – there is the settlement of Chervonohryhorivka, the largest settlement of the Nikopol district and the administrative center of the community.

Chervonohryhorivka is the jewel of the Cossack region. Descendants of Zaporizhzhia Cossacks still live in Chervonohryhorivka. On the territory of the community there was a fortification of the Zaporizhzhia Cossacks on the island of Tomakivtsi on the Dnipro – Tomakivska Sich, which was destroyed by the Tatars after 1590.

A part of the territory of the Dnipro floodplains (the Revun and Richyshche rivers), which has survived to this day, is the border of Velykyi Luh.

Velykyi Luh ceased to exist when it was flooded by the waters of the former Kakhovka Reservoir in 1955-1957, with the exception of some areas that remained in the community.

There is a healing over-100-years-old spring on the territory of the village of Borysivka, Chervonohryhorivka community. It is named after the icon of the Mother of God – “Life-giving spring”. The water temperature in the font is no higher than 6 degrees at any time of the year. Not only the villagers know about the healing properties of this spring, but people also come from the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions for the water.

The community industrial sector focuses on the mining of decorative and construction stone at the Novopavlivskyi Granite Quarry. The main types of products include: granite crushed stone, sand-crushed mixture, crushed stone, and crushed stone products.

Also, more than 70 community entities operate in the field of retail trade, services and production.

Since the beginning of the war, the educational process in the community has been carried out in an online format. This is due to the fact that many educational institutions of the community were damaged as a result of shelling, there are no shelters for students, the community is located near the frontline and most of its territory is in the zone of active hostilities and is subject to daily enemy shelling.

In total, the social sphere of the community is represented by more than 25 institutions, including:

  • 5 schools;
  • 4 kindergartens;
  • 7 healthcare institutions.

The Chervonohryhorivka community has started the year 2024 under the slogan “Safety is the key to community well-being”. In every community, it is important to have an effective system of protection and assistance in emergency situations, and in active combat zones this becomes a special necessity. The opening of a fire-rescue unit on the territory of the community has become an important step in ensuring the safety and support of our community in the conditions of war.

The project has been completed and our Chervonohryhorivka community has its own fire station now.

Since its creation, the fire-rescue unit team has been responding quickly and effectively to emergency situations: liquidation of fires caused by arson of dry vegetation, fires in open terrain, and most importantly – liquidation of fires after enemy artillery fire from the russian federation.

Community and War

The war came to the community at 05:45 am on February 22, 2022, when the enemy targeted energy and military infrastructure facilities near the settlement of Chervonohryhorivka. Since that time, the coastal population centers of the community have constantly suffered from enemy shelling. Objects of social sphere and housing of civilians are being destroyed. Schools, kindergartens, cultural centers, boiler houses, drinking water pumping station have been damaged.

However, despite constant shelling by artillery and FPV drones, the community continues to live and, whenever possible and with the direct participation of international funds and organizations, implement various projects, mostly related to drinking water supply.

In addition, educational institutions: schools, kindergartens, cultural centers have become humanitarian hubs. They have focused on providing humanitarian aid to the population: food, drinking water, hygiene products.

Since the beginning of the war, women have been working tirelessly to provide the defenders with everything they need. Thus, in March 2022, the “Sewing Company” of the Chervonohryhorivka community was formed and is led by the director of the Prydniprovsky Kindergarten, Svitlana Vynnyk.

It all started with the weaving of camouflage nets, but as of 2024, the range of products has expanded significantly, and the means of production have also been modernized. They work tirelessly on orders and new people are constantly joining. The great merit of the local population of the community is that the residents of the community understand the importance of these actions and constantly make donations for fabric and materials, and the craftsmen of the “Sewing Company” turn them into thousands of sets of light uniforms, fleece jackets, and T-shirts.

As soon as February-March 2022, the teaching staff of the Dnipro Lyceum organized volunteer work. A volunteer station was set up where they collected things for refugees, wove nets, prepared food for defenders and sent parcels to those on the front line fighting the enemy.

The daily work of volunteers who help Ukrainian defenders on the front lines is a vivid example of the coherence and indomitability of the Ukrainian people. Every contribution, every initiative is not only a support for the soldiers, but also an important step towards preserving history. That is why the community decided not only to support the defenders today, but also to pay tribute to those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.

Therefore, the opening of the Alley of memory and glory of the fallen defenders of the Chervonohryhorivka community in October 2024 was a particularly important event. It will become a place where everyone can honor the memory of Ukrainian heroes and once again realize the price of the freedom they fought for.
