History
The village of Dubovyky is located in the central part of the Synelnykove district, 2.5 km from the left bank of the Chaplyna River. Since 2020, the village of Dubovyky has been the administrative center of the community.
The community includes 27 population centers. One of them is the village of Chaplyne. The name of the village comes from the small river Chaplynka, which flows near it.
It was founded in the late 19th century during the construction of the Catherine Railway, which connected the Donetsk coal basin and Kryvyi Rih iron ore basin.
After the Chaplyne-Berdyansk railway line was put into operation in 1898, the station became a railway junction. The track and communication services, as well as the depot, were transferred here from the Ulianivka station. In the village, switchmen, stokers, railway coupler workers, and railway guards lived near the station.
In 1896, a Belgian company began construction of the ceramics factory, which accelerated the development of the village and the station. In 1909, 26,000 cars of bread and other cargo passed through Chaplyne station.
In 1913, the first educational institution – a railway school – was opened.
The villages of the community have a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. For example, one of the largest villages – Mykolaivka – was founded by immigrants from the Pavlohrad district. At first it was a small hamlet, which gradually grew and received its current name.
The merger of village councils and the consolidation of the community have opened up new opportunities for development, contributing to the preservation of historical heritage and the creation of comfortable living conditions for residents.
Economy and Welfare
The Dubovyky community has significant economic resources that allow it to ensure its sustainable development and well-being of local residents.
One of the important areas of the economy is the extraction of minerals. Deposits of titanium-zirconium ore have been discovered on the territory of the community, which is an important resource for manufacturing industry. The development of these deposits is carried out by LLC “Demurinsky Mining and Processing Plant”, which contributes to the development of the mining industry in the region and the creation of new jobs.
The agricultural sector is the main driver of the community’s economy. There are 158 agricultural enterprises operating in the Dubovyky community which specialize in the cultivation of grains, legumes, and industrial crops.
In particular, local farmers are actively engaged in the cultivation of wheat, corn, soybeans, as well as industrial crops such as sunflowers. These activities not only ensure stable harvests, but are also of great importance for the economic stability of the community.
The community’s agricultural enterprises actively apply modern agricultural technologies, which allows them to increase production efficiency and minimize negative impact on the environment. In addition, agriculture provides the community with jobs and contributes to the development of infrastructure, such as roads, warehouses, and transport networks.
Thanks to its natural resources and strong agricultural sector, the Dubovyky community has significant economic potential for further development and attracting investments, which will contribute to improving the well-being of its residents.
Community and War
The full-scale invasion affected every community in the country, including Dubovyky. Local residents witnessed the horrific consequences of the aggression, which changed their lives. Russian shelling, destruction of infrastructure, and constant security threats led to great hardships in the community.
On August 24, 2022, russian forces launched five missile attacks on the village of Chaplyne, which is part of the community. The missiles hit a residential building, trapping a woman and children under the rubble and consequently killing one of them. They also hit the Chaplyne railway station, where outbuildings were damaged and five carriages burned down as a result of the fire.
Charity organizations and volunteers provided humanitarian aid to those affected by the shelling. Private companies and caring individuals helped rebuild damaged homes, repaired roofs and windows, and helped restore normal living conditions for affected families. These efforts provided important support to the community during this difficult time.
As a result of the military activities, many residents of the community, mostly women and children, were forced to leave their homes and go abroad in search of safety. This led to a decrease in economic activity in the community and a deterioration in the standard of living. At the same time, the number of internally displaced persons who need assistance in social and household issues, in particular, in providing housing and employment, has increased.
Community People
Mykola Karnaukh has been the head of the community since 2017. His experience in local government is over 16 years. During his leadership, significant results have been achieved in the community associated with improving the well-being of residents and ensuring security.

Through participation in international projects such as “Improving the Civil Protection System”, the community received important support in creating volunteer fire brigades and purchasing necessary equipment for rescuers.
In addition, the “Community Police Officer” program was implemented, ensuring the presence of a permanent police officer in the community.
The team led by Mykola Karnaukh actively promotes community development and supports local initiatives, in particular through support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and assistance to internally displaced persons.
