Kamianka Territorial Community
The Kamianka territorial community is located in the western part of Ukraine, in the Chernivtsi region. The total area of the community is 102.4 square kilometers. The Kamianka community includes 4 rural population centers. The administrative center of the community is Kamianka.
As of January 1, 2024 the population of the community was 10,400 people.

History
The village of Kamianka was founded in 1431. It is divided into two parts by the Siret River. The village is one of the largest in the region with 7,041 citizens living here. Legends say that the name of the village comes from the name of a small spring in which there were many large stones (Ukrainian “kamin” means “stone” in English).
The most famous landmark of the community is the Cathedral of the Old Believers in the village of Bila Krynytsia. Built in 1900-1908, it is the world’s spiritual and historical center of Old Believers. Also, there are the old Nicholas Church and the Church of Cozma and Domian of 1740 on the territory of the village.
In 1996, the World Old Believers Gathering was held in Bila Krynytsia.
Economy and Welfare
The community is located on the border with Romania, a member country of the European Union. This neighborhood contributes to the economic development of the community. An international highway passes near the Kamianka community; the international railway station “Vadul-Siret” and the international checkpoint “Porubne-Siret” are situated nearby.
There are more than 40 retail trade facilities and public catering establishments on the territory of the community.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, a modern Vadul-Siret grain transshipment terminal was built on the territory of the community.
Also, there are sawmills on the territory of the community.
Medical care in the Kamianka community is provided by 5 institutions: Hlyboka district center of primary medical and sanitary care, 3 outpatient clinics of general practice of family medicine and 1 paramedic station.
There are 3 schools and 4 kindergartens in the community. Children receive quality education, participate in Olympiads and various competitions. Creative, scientific and sports clubs operate at schools.
The Kamianka community has a rich cultural life. There are three museums operating here, including the village museum, historical and ethnographic museum, library, and various vocal, dance, and art groups.
The community honors the traditions of ancestors. Religious holidays have been accompanied by various rites and customs since ancient times, and all of them are supported in the Kamianka community. The wealth of Ukrainian traditions is passed on to the next generations.
Community and War
From the first days of the war, the residents of the community took an active part in providing assistance to forcibly displaced persons and military personnel.
125 residents of the community defend Ukraine. Those residents of the community who do not fight join various volunteer movements and help the military and civilians who stayed in the front-line zone by delivering food kits.
The Kamianka territorial community demonstrates its active support for defenders of Ukraine and their families – funds are allocated for various needs.
The community focused its efforts on repairing military servicemen’s cars. People donate their money to purchase spare parts, car repairmen repair cars, and volunteers take already working cars to the front line. Women help sew and weave camouflage nets.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, community volunteers have already made more than 40 trips to the front line
The community lost 18 soldiers In the Ukrainian-russian war. Eternal glory and gratitude for saved Ukrainian lives and preserved Ukraine!
The Kamianka community also cares about the children of fallen soldiers and internally displaced. Thus, these children are provided with free meals at the expense of the community budget.
People of the Community
Kamianka Village Head Vasyl Zahariuk was elected to the post for the first time on November 26, 2020 and has been holding the post since then. He has been a permanent village head since the beginning of the creation of the Kamianka United Territorial Community.
Vasyl Zahariuk rallied both local residents and the diaspora abroad, who jointly collect funds for the purchase, repair and delivery of transport to “hot spots”.
Development Strategy
The strategy of the Kamianka village community was approved by the decision of the session in 2022.
Therefore, two strategic goals and 6 operational goals were defined:
Strategic goal 1. Creating conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses based on the rational use of the resource potential of the community.
Operational goals:
1.1. Development of agriculture in the community.
1.2. Business development and investment attraction.
1.3. Adaptation of the community to tourist needs.
Strategic goal 2. Integration of the community population into a single social and cultural space.
Operational goals:
2.1. Infrastructure development of community territories.
2.2. Improving the quality of municipal services in the community.
2.3. Cohesion of the community, forming an environment of trust and activity, creating conditions for interesting leisure and recreation.
