History
Since the times of Kyivan Rus, Malyn, named after the local prince Mal, has been
the eastern outpost of the ancient tribe of Drevlians, which rebelled against Kyivan
Prince Igor. Furious with the death of her husband Prince Igor at the hands of the
Drevlians, Princess Olga brutally avenged the city and enslaved the Drevlian
nobles. However, even now in the city you can see the remains of the ancient
settlement of VII-IX centuries.
City Park named after Nicholas
Miklukho-Maklay
The city park is named after the outstanding traveler-humanist of the XIX century
Nicholas Miklouho-Maclay and is located next to the estate of the Myklukh family,
who lived here.
Nicolas Myklouho-Maclay became famous all over the world for his studies of the
life and customs of the aborigines of New Guinea, Indonesia, the Philippines and
the islands of Oceania. He also drafted the first Universal Declaration of Human
Rights and initiated the establishment of the prototype of the UN education,
science and culture organizations.
Many exotic plants and trees brought from the expeditions of the famous traveler
have been planted in the park. Some trees are 600 years old.

cardboard.

Community and the War
The Russian occupation forces tried to capture Malyn from the first days of the
War, but the forces of 10th Carpathian special mountain assault brigade, which
operated there, managed to hold back the assault. The military and local residents
actively cooperated.
«How can the occupiers defeat us if every bush here tells them a famous phrase
«Russian warship, go fuck yourself» ?! Once an old man, seeing the enemy’s
vehicles, shared this info with us and we managed to destroy them. The only
motivation of our enemy, being a soldier or a general, is the fear of getting a slap in
the face from their commanders. Instead, our soldiers have a mission to protect their
land, their relatives, their homes.»
On March 6, Russian troops dropped a 500-kilogram bomb on the Malyn
community. The bomb hit the house where the family was staying. One-year-old
twin girls, their brother, a student of local school, mother and her sister died.
A total of 8 people were killed by airstrikes in the community.
In Morozivka,a village in Malyn community, a local school was shelled from Grad
rocket launchers while locals were sheltered in the basement. The local private
house was completely destroyed by cluster mines.
While retreating from the community, the occupiers left many mines and
unexploded ordnance.

industrial park, which is to specialize in agricultural processing, woodworking,
light industry, information technology and mechanical engineering.
“We have a goal – to make the most of our potential, to implement modern
innovative, ecologically friendly and energy saving projects.”
