Novyi Buh Territorial Community
The Novyi Buh territorial community is located in the east of the Mykolaiv region.
The territory of the community covers an area of 46,116.88 hectares. The Novyi Buh community includes 12 population centers. The population was 18,039 residents as of November 1, 2023.

History
The administrative center is the town of Novyi Buh (previously known as Kutsa Balka, Semenivka, Novopavlivka), the first mentions of which date back to 1772.
Remains of Neolithic and Late Bronze Age settlements and Scythian burials (6th century BC) were found on the territory of modern Novyi Buh.
Economy and Welfare
The local economy has a pronounced agricultural specialization. The main area is crop production with the dominant production of sunflower, corn, wheat, barley, soybeans. 7 agricultural formations are engaged in animal husbandry in the district, mainly to meet the needs of the local population.
The Novyi Buh community has more than 1,300 enterprises of various forms of ownership.
In the community, non -metallic minerals such as granite, gneisses, sand, clay, and gravel are mined. The national register includes 4 deposits: 1 Novoantonivka deposit (crystalline rocks) and three Novyi Buh deposits (loams) in the northwest and southwest of Novyi Buh.
The tourist and natural advantage of the Novyi Buh community is the Pryinhulskyi Regional Landscape Park created in 2002. The Park is located in the section of the valley of the Inhul River. It is the southwestern edge of the Inhul Unit of the Ukrainian Crystalline Shield. There are also limestones, clays and sands there.
The flora of the PryInhulskyi Park includes about 600 species of plants, including 20 Red Book species.
From north to south, the Novyi Buh territorial community is crossed by the Odesa railway track. In the village Stantsiyne, the Novyi Buh railway station is located 7 km from the center of Novyi Buh, where goods are received and delivered by wagon shipments.
One of the important components of community life is social protection, because every person should feel supported and respected. These functions in the community are performed by the department of social protection of the population, the center for the provision of social services, the service for children, the center of social services for families, children and youth. The community also has A VETERAN HUB and the Mykolaiv Region’s first office of a veteran’s assistant.
A network of educational institutions that create sufficient conditions for the development and education of children has been formed in the Novyi Buh community so that the community can ensure the proper educational process. There are 6 institutions of general secondary education, 8 institutions of preschool education, 1 institution of out-of-school education “Your Space”, the Municipal Children’s and Youth Sports School and the Novyi Buh Inclusive Resource Center.
Despite the marital law, the Novyi Buh after-school educational front continues to work, providing children’s needs for knowledge and creativity, educates national-patriotic youth, supports and helps develop abilities of gifted and talented pupils.
The network of cultural institutions of the Novyi Buh community includes 6 club institutions, 7 library institutions, a children’s art school, the complex of the Wonderland Children’s Town, and a museum.
The development of sports and physical activity of the children of the Novyi Buh community is a priority, because it is thanks to sports and games that children can return to a peaceful life.
The community has a town stadium, children’s and sports grounds in 4 microdistricts of the town. Students and schoolchildren take an active part in sports events. During the all-Ukrainian competition “Shoulder to Shoulder”, students of the Novyi Buh Lyceum took an honorable 3rd place in the regional competition.
There are two institutions of professional education in the community – the Communal Institution of Vocational Pre-Higher Education “Novyi Buh Vocational Pedagogical College” of the Mykolaiv Regional Council educating in two specialties: “Preschool Education” and “Primary Education” and the Novyi Buh College of the Mykolaiv National Agrarian University educating in the specialties: “Accounting and Taxation”, “Computer Engineering”, “Construction and Civil Engineering”, “Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics”, “Agronomy”, and “Agroengineering”.
Health care sphere is represented by two institutions – “Novyi Buh Multidisciplinary Hospital” and “Center for the Provision of Primary Medical and Sanitary Care”.
Residents of the community take an active part in making management decisions. The Novyi Buh community is represented on the platform of local democracy “E-dem” in Diia. Residents participate in the discussion and submission of proposals during electronic consultations and petitions.
Community and War
From the first days of the war, the residents of the Novyi Buh community stood up for the defense of their state. Today, more than 400 local men and women defend Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To date, 49 soldiers from the community have died, 33 are considered missing.

Today, every resident of the community is a volunteer, almost everyone is a member of various volunteer organizations and helps the Ukrainian military.
Charity fairs and other actions are constantly held in the community, the purpose of which is to raise funds for the needs of the military. Children, community residents, volunteers, public and volunteer organizations collect money for military vehicles, drones and other ammunition.
The priority in the community is to provide assistance to internally displaced persons. Since the beginning of the war, more than 4,000 internally displaced persons have found shelter in the Novyi Buh community.
In May 2022 and August 2023, the Novyi Buh community was hit by Russian invaders’ rockets. The historical part of the town, premises of the social sphere, educational and cultural institutions, health care facilities, private houses, transport infrastructure and water drainage system (sewage system) were damaged.
People of the Community
Novyi Buh Mayor Maksym Lahodienko was first elected to the position of Mayor in 2015.
On October 25, 2020, he was elected the Mayor of Novyi Buh United Territorial Community in regular elections.
Despite the continuation of the martial law in Ukraine, the Novyi Buh urban territorial community worked on the implementation of a number of projects with the aim of improving the socio-economic situation with the involvement of donor funds.
The Novyi Buh community became the recipient of the “EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine” project. The development partner in this project is the European Union acting through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This project is multi-level and covers the following areas: Health Care, Administrative Services Centers, and Social Protection. Within the framework of the project “EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine”, the community has already received:
- Medicine: a vehicle for providing mobile medical services
- Administrative Services Centers: a mobile suitcase (portable printer, laptop)
- Social protection: a cargo-passenger car, a mobile aid station.
The Novyi Buh urban territorial community took part in the competition of project ideas within the framework of the training program “Steps for Specialists: Planning and Programming”, which is implemented by the U-LEAD Programme with Europe. Project idea: “Restoration and Reconstruction of the Sewage Network in the Town of Novyi Buh, Mykolaiv Region”.
As part of the Kusanone Program, which is funded by the Japanese government, the “Novyi Buh Multidisciplinary Hospital” received a diagnostic ultrasound system and an uninterrupted power source for it.
The Novyi Buh Public Library won the competition within the framework of the “Book Grants” project from the Ukrainian Association of Publishers and Book Distributors in partnership with the Charitable Foundation “Library Country” and the Charitable Foundation of the Kharkiv Community “Toloka” and received books for children published in 2021-2023 from Ukrainian publishers.
The Novyi Buh town center of social services for families, children and youth received support for the project application for “Current repair of the roof and ceiling of the branch “Day center for social and psychological assistance to persons affected by domestic violence and gender-based violence with a crisis room”.
Also, the community will continue and expand cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the U-LEAD Programme with Europe, with Solidarity Fund PL in Ukraine, with programs funded by the Governments of Great Britain and Korea.
Development Strategy
The development strategy of the Novyi Buh territorial community was created with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme, which is jointly financed by the EU and its member states of Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Slovenia to support Ukraine on its path to strengthening local self-government.
The main problems that need to be solved today are:
Round-the-clock water supply to the residents of the community with high-quality drinking water;
Reconstruction of the sewage network in the town of Novyi Buh;
Construction of a bypass road bypassing the town of Novyi Buh.
